My Style
As an en plein air painter, I'm drawn to the spontaneity and immediacy of working on site. Acrylics are my medium of choice, offering the versatility I crave. I love the way they can be applied in thick, buttery layers or thin, translucent washes, allowing me to create a wide range of textures and effects.
My paintings are often representational, with a narrative thread that may be overt or subtle. The human figure frequently takes center stage, inspired by countless hours of drawing from life. I weave stories around these figures, paying close attention to color palette and the interplay of light and shadow. My work tends toward high-key lighting, with strong contrasts and dramatic effects, but I also appreciate the subtlety of dappled or diffused light.
My style is distinctive, rooted in observation and a deep appreciation for the natural world. Each painting is a testament to my passion for capturing the essence of a moment, whether it's the vibrant energy of a bustling cityscape or the serene beauty of a quiet landscape.
